  • BOS Small Forward #0
This was expected, as the Celtics viewed inking Tatum and Derrick White to extensions as an offseason priority. White reportedly agreed to his deal on Monday morning, with Tatum following suit a few hours later. While he fell short of providing first-round fantasy value this season, that was a byproduct of the Celtics adding Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to the roster. With the latter due to miss 5-6 months after undergoing left leg surgery, Tatum’s chances of offering first-round value next season have increased. As for the contract, it’s the largest in NBA history and includes a player option (approx. $71.5 million in 2029-30) and a trade kicker.
  • DAL Shooting Guard #11
Thompson reportedly had four year offers that were worth more money, but he took a pay cut to try and win a championship with the Mavs. His departure will open up a starting spot that will likely be filled by second-year guard Brandin Podziemski, barring more moves by the Warriors. Thompson should fill out the starting forward spot opposite PJ Washington, which means that Naji Marshall will likely fill a reserve role behind them. Green will have a chance to see big minutes for the Hornets next season, though his fantasy upside will be limited. As part of the sign-and-trade, the Mavericks have sent two future second-round picks to the Warriors.
  • PHI Point Guard #0
After a breakout season, the 76ers have locked up their star point guard for the foreseeable future. This level of extension was previously rumored and shouldn’t come as a surprise. They have locked up a trio of Joel Embiid, Paul George and Maxey for the next few seasons, and they’ll be one of the teams that looks to dethrone the Celtics this season.
  • PHI Small Forward #13
Free agency’s next big domino has fallen, as the two-way star heads East to form a new “Big 3" with Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid. George’s arrival will likely mean less touches for Tyrese Maxey and Kelly Oubre (who just re-signed with Philadelphia on a two-year deal). George’s departure from Los Angeles means the newly-signed Derrick Jones Jr. should see plenty of minutes, and Terance Mann could see more opportunities as a scorer and playmaker. George’s biggest concern as a Clipper was availability, but he appeared in 74 games last season and posted averages of 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 3.3 triples.
  • DET Point Guard #2
Cunningham appeared in only 12 games in his second season due to a heel injury, but he bounced back and appeared in 62 games in 2023-24. Cunningham averaged 22.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 1.9 three-pointers, shooting 44.9% from the floor, 86.9% from the charity stripe and 35.5% from beyond the arc. Aside from the rebounds, the other numbers and the percentages were career highs for the Oklahoma State product. Availability will be a concern for Cunningham, but when healthy, he’s a stat-stuffer with early-round upside in fantasy hoops.
  • GSW Shooting Guard #11
Shams notes that the two sides will work on sign-and-trade options. It’s not a surprising update, but we’ve finally received confirmation that Thompson will not be a Warrior after 13 seasons and four rings with the franchise that drafted him.
  • LAC Point Guard #1
Harden enjoyed a productive first season with the Clippers, finishing with averages of 16.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 8.5 assists, 1.1 steals, 0.8 blocks and 2.6 triples. Most of those numbers were declines in last season’s production, particularly his points, but Harden still finished as an early third-rounder in fantasy hoops. His ability to stuff the stat sheet should keep him in the third-round range for 2024-25, and he could see a bump in production if Paul George leaves in free agency.
  • LAL Small Forward #23
This news is unsurprising, even with the Lakers selecting LeBron’s son Bronny with the 55th overall pick in the NBA Draft. While James was due to make $51.4 million next season, this allows him to negotiate a new deal with the Lakers. Look for LeBron to remain in Los Angeles and play for new Lakers head coach JJ Redick next season.
  • NOP Point Guard #5
Atlanta has officially broken up the point guard duo of Trae Young and Dejounte, which means that both should be elite fantasy options this season. Dejounte’s arrival in New Orleans will take the ball out of CJ McCollum’s hands and shift him to more of an off-ball role. Plenty more can still change, as Brandon Ingram is still expected to be moved. For the Hawks, Dejounte’s departure will open up minutes for Kobe Bufkin, as well as Daniels. Nance should fill in as the backup center, and it wouldn’t be surprising if they traded Clint Capela at some point this summer. The picks they acquired are the Lakers’ first rounder next season, as well as the least favorable first rounder between the Pelicans and Bucks in 2027. This move helps the Hawks recoup some draft capital, since they gave it all up to bring Murray to town in the first place.
  • The 7’1” center from France has been widely touted as one of the top prospects in this draft class, but that isn’t because of what he provided statistically. In 30 games for Perth (NBL) this past season, he averaged just 9.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 18.0 minutes per game. Those numbers don’t jump off the page, but his athleticism on film certainly does. Not only did he showcase the ability to lock down the paint and block shots, but he was also able to switch onto perimeter players and still be effective, which is a vital skill in today’s NBA. When Perth matched up against the G League Ignite in September, Sarr had 26 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks while facing off against multiple other top prospects. He has the makings of an elite defender that can also have success as the roll man on offense, and he has also showcased upside as a shooter. Washington has cleared the way for Sarr in his rookie season by trading away Deni Avdija ahead of the draft. Sarr should play a ton of minutes during his rookie season and should be in the conversation for Rookie of the Year.
